Did
You Know the Benefits of Broccoli?
This is one of the best vegetables that contain vitamin C: 110 mg/100g
raw, and another 60 mg/100 g after cooking. Thus, a portion of 200 mg will reach
the recommended daily intake.
It is also contains pro-vitamin A (2.4 mg per 100 g), a
molecule highly valued for its antioxidant properties and vitamin B9, which
would reduce the risk of colon cancer.
Another advantage but not least, broccoli is moderate energy: not more
than 25 kcal/100g, a rate similar to fennel and asparagus.
The name broccoli comes from the Italian "broccoli" which
means "push".
Broccoli belongs to the large family of cruciferous vegetables,
like all other cabbage (green cabbage, red cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels
sprouts) as well as turnips, watercress and radishes.
